## Your longbook is a folder

Your records are plain JSON files in a folder called longbook in your own iCloud Drive. The main file is `financial_memory.json`. The folder also holds your monthly reports, your AI's insights and earlier versions. Apple syncs it to every iPhone and Mac on the same iCloud account. Any tool that reads JSON can open it. longbook never connects to a bank.

- **Move to iCloud** moves a folder kept on one device into iCloud Drive, and checks the copy first.
- **Back Up Now** makes a copy of the file to keep.
- You don't need iCloud. At setup, **Choose Folder** keeps longbook in a folder you pick. Syncing between devices comes from iCloud Drive.

## No card numbers

The format has no field for a full card number, a CVV, an expiry, a PIN or a password, and a save carrying one is refused.

## What can leave your device, only when you use it

- **Statements** you import go through longbook's server to Anthropic's Claude to be read. longbook keeps neither the file nor the charges.
- **Hosted copy**: a copy for online AI connectors, kept only while you have AI access on. Turning it off deletes it.
- **Shared reports**: kept until the link expires or you stop sharing.
- **Your account**: your email and licence status.
- **Usage and crash data**: counts, never a name, amount or note. Switch it off in Help & about.
- **Support**: questions you ask in Support go through longbook's server to Anthropic's Claude, which answers from these help articles. Our server doesn't keep them, and Anthropic keeps them only briefly and doesn't train on them.

longbook never sells your data. We never see inside your longbook.

## Questions

### What happens if I delete my account?

**Delete Account** removes your email and anything hosted. Your folder stays where it is.
