# The dashboard

The dashboard shows what is due next and what each month cost, by day, by account and by category.

## What is on it

- **Next payment**: days to the next payment, with its name and amount.
- **Commitments**: how many are active.
- **Coming up**: the next 30 charges and transfers in date order. The control at its left edge switches to past charges.
- **Spending**: the month's total, its number of charges and a bar for each day. For the current month it also shows the amount still to come.
- **Money in**: shown under the total, never added to it.
- **Accounts**: the month split by the account that paid, in a ring.
- **Categories**: the month split by category, with each share.

The month picker opens any month that holds charges. Tap an account or a category to see that month's charges for it.

## Questions

### Does it include transfers?

No. Transfers between your own accounts, such as a card bill, are left out of spending.

### Does longbook set budgets or forecasts?

No. It reports the charges your records hold, past and planned.

### Does longbook write insights about my spending?

No. longbook draws the figures. When your AI leaves a note, it shows as a mark beside that card.

### How are several currencies shown?

One at a time, never converted. See "Currencies".
