# Getting started on iPhone and Mac

## Install

Download longbook from the App Store on your iPhone, your Mac, or both. One purchase covers every device signed in to your Apple Account, and your Apple family through Family Sharing.

## Your folder

longbook keeps your records in a longbook folder in your iCloud Drive, as plain files that you own and can back up. Apple syncs it, so your iPhone and Mac show the same longbook when they use the same iCloud account.

To keep it somewhere else, choose **Choose Folder** at setup. Syncing between devices comes from iCloud Drive.

## Add your first payments

You can fill your longbook in three ways:

- **By hand.** Add a payment with its name, amount and next due date.
- **From a bank statement.** Import a statement and longbook reads the charges for you. See "Import a bank statement".
- **With your AI.** Connect Claude or ChatGPT and ask it to find your bills and subscriptions. See "Connect Claude or ChatGPT".

Whatever is added for you waits on the **Proposals** screen until you keep it or undo it.

## Look around first

Not ready to add your own? Open **Try the demo** in Settings. It's filled with made-up payments so you can see how everything works, and it doesn't touch your own folder.

## Keeping the next payment in view

longbook doesn't send notifications. On iPhone, add the **next payment** widget to your Home Screen. On Mac, the next payment sits in the menu bar.

## Something not working?

In Support, tap **Ask a person** to open an email to the team, and tell us what you see. A screenshot helps, but please crop out amounts and account numbers first.

Still have a question? Open **Support** in the app, under **Settings**, then **Help & about**, or write to contact@longbook.app and a person answers.
